Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter on Wednesday named 19 people to the Centennial Care Choices Program Panel.
The panel was created by Senate Bill 217, sponsored by Sen. Bob Hagedorn, D-Aurora, to collect information from health insurance companies and other interested parties to propose low-cost limited health plans that could provide coverage for uninsured Coloradans.
Members of the panel have experience in actuarial sciences, health insurance, disability issues, consumer concerns and medical care.
Colorado Insurance Commissioner Marcy Morrison and Joan Henneberry, executive director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Finance, were appointed co-chairs of the panel.
Other appointments include Debbie Welle-Powell, vice president of payer strategies and legislative affairs for Exempla Healthcare; Carl Miller, the former regional director of government relations for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Colorado and Dr. Ned Calonge, the chief medical officer of the Colorado Department of Health and Environment.
The panel meets until March 1, 2009, after filing a final report with recommendations to Colorado legislators.
